Fundamentals of Insurance

Unlock the door to your professional career with the Fundamentals of Insurance, an approved licensing course designed for those with little or no experience in the insurance industry. You will learn the basic principals and practices of general lines insurance and the responsibilities of those persons involved in the business. Participants learn to assist clients by identifying the risks involved, determining their insurance needs, selecting the appropriate forms and arranging coverage. The text is available in both English and French.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

To have a working knowledge of the basic principals and practices of general lines insurance and of the responsibilities of those persons involved in the business;
To recognize the different classes of general lines insurance and the relationships between them;
To be able to identify, in limited fashion, a client's needs and, at a basic level, satisfy them by identifying the risks involved and the coverage available, selecting the appropriate forms and arranging coverage;
To recognize and appreciate the limits of your skills and knowledge and, thereby, the necessity for continuing your education;
To be able to complete the examination for broker's/agent's license as required by the Superintendent of Insurance.
